The Nigeria Football Federation have joined English Premier League side Chelsea Football Club to celebrate the 10 years’ stay of Super Eagles skipper Mikel Obi with the London-based club.
The former EPL champions on Wednesday posted a video on their official website to celebrate Mikel’s 10 years with the Blues.
Commenting on the celebration, the NFF wrote on their official Twitter handle: “We join Chelsea FC to celebrate the 10th year of Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi at the club.”
Mikel, 29, joined Chelsea as a 19-year-old from Lyn Oslo of Norway in 2006 after a protracted transfer tussle with Manchester United.
The issue was finally resolved after Manchester United agreed to terminate their option agreement following Chelsea’s £12 million payment to United.
Mikel has gone on to achieve success with the Blues, winning two EPL titles, four FA Cups, two League Cups, one Europa Cup and one UEFA Champions League title.
