Liverpool's Potential XI For The 2016/17 Season

It’s an important summer at Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp has been at Anfield for almost nine months now so he knows exactly where he needs to strengthen his side ahead of his first full campaign. And he hasn’t held back in doing just that.
Loris Karius, Marko Grujic and Joel Matip have all been added to the squad ahead of the transfer window and will be joined by Sadio Mane, who arrived for £30 million on Tuesday.
But there are likely to be plenty more comings and goings on Merseyside in the coming months as the Reds aim to challenge for a top-four position that would give them Champions League football.
Here's how they should line up:

GOALKEEPER - LORIS KARIUS
The 23-year-old goalkeeper was signed for just £4.7 million and it could prove to be an excellent signing. Simon Mignolet has struggled to win over Liverpool fans with regular mistakes and they will be delighted if the young German is the ‘number one’ next term.

RIGHT-BACK - NATHANIEL CLYNE

Clyne was probably Liverpool’s most consistent performer last season after making the £12.5 million move from Southampton last summer. His place isn’t in danger.

CENTRE-BACK - DEJAN LOVREN

Lovren transformed his Liverpool career during last season and started to produce decent performances on a consistent basis. Supporters will be hoping he can continue that.

CENTRE-BACK - MAMADOU SAKHO

Whilst there is still a UEFA ban hanging over Sakho, there is hope the Frenchman will escape punishment. If he does, he will likely be a regular starter alongside Lovren - despite the arrival of Joel Matip.

LEFT-BACK - JONAS HECTOR

Liverpool fans are praying that Klopp signs a left-back this summer to rival Alberto Moreno. The club have already been linked with Ben Chilwell, Andrew Robertson and Raphael Guerreiro but Hector would surely be the best option. He has impressed for Germany during Euro 2016 and signing him would mean fans wouldn’t have to put up with any more Moreno mistakes.

CENTRE-MIDFIELD - EMRE CAN

The German grew as a player during last campaign and is, arguably, Liverpool’s most important man. He doesn’t turn 23 until January and could become a very special player.

CENTRE-MIDFIELD - JORDAN HENDERSON

The captain had a disappointing season and appeared to be struggling with a heel injury for the majority of it. But, after a quiet summer for England, hopefully Henderson can return to his best or Klopp may be looking for a new partner for Can.

ATTACKING-MIDFIELD - PHILIPPE COUTINHO

The Brazilian has been linked with a move away from the club and it’s hardly surprising. Someone of Coutinho’s quality deserves to be playing in the Champions League and hopefully he will be able to fulfil those ambitions soon enough with Liverpool.

ATTACKING-MIDFIELD - ROBERTO FIRMINO

Firmino had a decent debut season at the club and will be hoping to kick. He's capable of producing moments of magic but a bit more consistency could see him become one of the league’s best playmakers.

ATTACKING-MIDFIELD - SADIO MANE

The £30 million signing will join Coutinho and Firmino in the three players behind the forward. The trio can be flexible and play across the line fluently. Mane’s pace and his goalscoring ability could take the club to the next level.

STRIKER - DANIEL STURRIDGE

Sturridge finally appears to have shaken off his injury problems and could be given the nod to lead the line ahead of Divock Origi, Christian Benteke and Danny Ings next season. However, if he fails to perform, Klopp knows he has plenty of options on the bench to call upon.
