Ighalo Shines In Watford Win, Success Missing
Nigeria striker Odion Ighalo provided an assist on his third start for Watford this pre-season as they defeated German Bundesliga 2 side Union Berlin 3-1 in Austria on Tuesday.
Ighalo sent in a low cross for Etienne Capoue who fired in his side’s opener after 13 minutes.
It was the Frenchman’s second goal in his second start.
Troy Deeney doubled his side’s lead in the 44th minute from the penalty spot after Abdoulaye Doucoure was fouled in the box.
Maximilian Thiel pulled one back for Union Berlin when he fired home from close range in the 70th minute of the game but an 83rd minute goal from Steven Berghuis sealed the Hornets’ win.
Ighalo’s compatriot Isaac Success did not feature in the encounter.
Success has made two substitute appearances for the club against Stevenage and Woking since making his record move to Vicarage Road this summer.
