Pep Guardiola Ready To Axe "Fat" Manchester City Players

Pep Guardiola doesn't like fat footballers.

Some of Manchester City’s first team stars have already been banished from training just weeks into Pep Guardiola’s reign, according to The Times.

Players returning from their summer breaks with a bit of extra fat around the beef was once the source of much entertainment for players and fans alike but in this modern era, it is a far more serious matter.

Guardiola, who is famed for his meticulous preparation and uncompromising style, has already taken drastic steps to make sure every one of his players is as fit as they can be, banning pizza and juice from their diets altogether.

It appears that the Spaniard has no interest in learning from Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri, who famously let his stars dine on pizza several times en route to winning the Premier League.

But Guardiola has won plenty more doing things his way, which is why Gael Clichy has revealed that some of his fellow City stars have already been dismissed from regular training because of their penchant for pies, according to GiveMeSport.

“With him [Guardiola], if you’re weight is too high, you’re not training with the team,” Clichy said.
“You hear that a lot from managers, but for my part it’s the first time any manager has actually done it, so we have a few players who are not training with the team yet.”
Clichy appeared happy to talk about the issue and that is most probably because he has nothing to worry about.

According to the same report, the French full-back looked fit as a fiddle as he addressed the media. With no weight issues to speak of, it perhaps explains why he is all for the harsh punishment.

“Playing football is our job and you have to take responsibility for what you do on the field,” Clichy said.
“Of course you have quality but you have to know that if your weight is [supposed to be] 60 kilos and you are 70, then you cannot play because you’re going to get injured and get your team in trouble.”
“He [Guardiola] cut out some juice and of course pizza and all the heavy food is not allowed. It’s really refreshing and very exciting.”
