Russia 2018: Cameroun Coach Dares Nigeria, Fears Algeria

 Cameroon head coach Hugo Broos is confident the Indomitable Lions will get the better of their perennial rivals, Nigeria when the 2018 World Cup qualifiers kicks off in October but is wary of the threat Algeria pose​ to his team's ambitions for the Mundial, Completesportsnigeria.com reports​

The Super Eagles have been drawn against Cameroon, Algeria and Zambia in Group B.

"This is not a good draw," Broos told the Fecafoot website. 

"In our group there are three teams which everyone expects to qualify. Algeria is currently perhaps the best team in Africa." 

Broos who has qualified Cameroun for next year's 2017 AFCON tournament in Gabon with a game to spare admitted that encounters against Nigeria are always difficult but he remains confident of his side ahead of the ties.

He said:

"The meetings with Nigeria are always tough. The fight will be difficult, but we must be confident because we improved a lot the past two months."

The Belgian tactician also regretted being drawn against Algeria who he ranks as the best team on the continent.

"If I had to choose the team to avoid, it would be Algeria," he added.

"There are no local players in the team. All Algerian players play in Europe for big clubs. But the pressure is on them for the first game because they can not afford to lose points at home against us."

"At the same time, it would be a great mistake to tailor each game to the opponent. It's very important that we find our own style. We are on the right path. It is easier to improve our own style in the future that change every game."
