Arsenal will block any loan approach made by Premier League rivals Manchester City for midfielder Jack Wilshere, according to Metro.
The North London club have made the England international available for loan this season, as they look to increase his game time from previous seasons. Wilshere’s career has been famously ravaged by injury, and he only managed three Premier League appearances during the 2015-16 season before playing for England at the Euros in France.
After holding talks with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, Jack Wilshere has been made available for loan, and Premier League clubs Crystal Palace and Bournemouth have emerged as the favourites to sign the 24-year-old temporarily before the transfer window closes on Wednesday evening.
City boss Pep Guardiola would no doubt see the signing of Wilshere as a coup, as the Arsenal midfielder would fit the style of football the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach is trying to implement at City. However, Arsene Wenger is not keen on allowing a loan deal with City, and sees a move to a club like Crystal Palace and Bournemouth as more beneficial for the club.
With the signing of Switzerland international Granit Xhaka as well as the return to fitness of Santi Cazorla hampering his first-team chances, Wilshere is set to move away from the Emirates club temporarily to make sure his development doesn’t stall by sitting on the substitutes bench or playing in the reserves at Arsenal.
Wenger is happy enough to send Wilshere out on loan, with Aaron Ramsey, Mohamed Elneny, Francis Coquelin and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, as well as Xhaka and Cazorla, all seen as viable options.
