Frank Lampard Becomes First Ever NYCFC Player To Score Hat Trick
Frank Lampard continued his road to recovering his reputation in North America on Saturday night as he cemented himself in the history books of New York City FC.
That’s after the former Chelsea and England midfielder became the first ever player in the Major League Soccer franchise’s history to score a hattrick.
Having been panned by American fans during the first few months of his stint stateside, Lampard has well and truly won them over with his recent form. His three goals against the Colorado Rapids (which can be seen below) showed that, even at 38-years-old, he has still got it.
As well as being history-making moments, Lampard’s three strikes in NYCFC’s 5-1 win will be very familiar to fans in the Premier League, too.
The opener was a poacher’s finish at the back post and his second was like watching the veteran in his Chelsea pomp – cutting onto his right foot at the top of the box and curling in a powerful shot. His hattrick goal, meanwhile, came in typically calm fashion from the penalty spot.
