SHOCKER!! John Obi Mikel Has Officially Changed His Name

It turns out everyone’s been calling John Obi Mikel by an incorrect name all these years, reports from GiveMeSport confirm.

The Chelsea star has now officially changed his name and people are very confused – because it sounds remarkably similar to what we already know him as. In fact, it’s the same.

According to the Mirror, the midfielder has changed his name to ‘Mikel John Obi’. Confused?
It turns out the Nigeria international was never actually called ‘Mikel’.

He was born John Michael Nchekwube Obinna. ‘Mikel’ was written down by the Nigerian FA on the submission form for the 2003 FIFA Under-17 World Championships and the name stuck.
‘Mikel’ apparently liked the mistake and subsequently didn’t pull anyone up over it when he arrived in England, back in 2006.

Now, though, the 29-year-old has officially changed his name to ‘Mikel John Obi’.
But, the question I’m asking myself right now is, ‘How do I even tag this post?’ John Mikel Obi? No, Mikel John Obi. Maybe even Obi John Mikel!
