Tottenham Hotspur maintained their unbeaten record in the English Premier League on Sunday with a hard-fought 1-0 win over 10-man Sunderland at White Hart Lane, reports Complete Sports Nigeria.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side who began their first Champions League campaign for five years with a disappointing 2-1 Wembley defeat to Monaco in midweek dominated the encounter but failed to score as the first half ended goalless.
But in the 59th minute Harry Kane’s simple tap-in from inside the six-yard box condemed Sunderland to their fourth defeat of the season and ensured the Lily Whites moved into third position ahead of Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.
Spurs now have 11 points, four points behind leaders Manchester City, while Sunderland remain winless and are just above bottom-of-the-table Stoke with one point.
In the closing stages of the encounter Adnan Januzaj was sent off for a silly, studs-up tackle on Ben Davies and Mike Dean had no choice but to send the Manchester United loanee off.
Kane was stretchered off injured towards the end of the match.
