Yaya Toure’s agent Dimitri Seluk has launched a scathing attacking against Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, criticising the Spaniard for ‘humiliating’ Toure after the Ivorian was dropped from City’s Champions League squad for the season, 90min can confirm.
Guardiola made the decision to leave Toure out of his 21-man Champions League squad on Friday, prompting further speculation over the 33-year-old’s future.
Seluk revealed to The Mirror that his client is happy to complete the final year of his £220k-a-week contract, despite missing out on the Champions League squad.
His Barcelona based agent went on to say that Guardiola needs to issue Toure with an apology if he doesn’t bring Champions League success to the Etihad.
“If he wins the Champions League for City this season then I will travel to England and I will say on television that Pep Guardiola is the best manager in the world.” Toure’s agent told The Mirror.
“But if City don’t win the Champions League then I hope that Pep has got the balls to say that he was wrong to humiliate a great player like Yaya.”
“This is Pep’s decision and we must respect it.”
“Yaya is a professional and so he will do everything he is asked to do.”
“Perhaps Pep will think he is good enough to play in the final 10 minutes of a League Cup game against a third division team – and, yes, I am joking.”
“But what I can tell you is that Yaya will spend the season at City. He will not be leaving in January. He hopes that he will get the chance to prove himself.”
The powerful midfielder is yet to play a single minute of Premier League football under Guardiola so far this season, but he may be in line with a first appearance next Saturday, as City face Man Utd in the first Manchester derby of the season at Old Trafford.
