Real Madrid Delay Cristiano Ronaldo's Contract Negotiations As Star Pushes For A Staggering 5-Year-Deal

Real Madrid are said to have delayed the negotiation of Cristiano Ronaldo’s new contract after it has been reported that the star is looking for a five-year extension, 90min reports.

According to the Mirror, the 31-year-old has had the initial details and outlines agreed upon for his new deal with the club, however the Portuguese international is unhappy with the length, and wishes to extend it to assure his commitment to the club he joined in 2009.

The former Manchester United forward should receive an £18.5m salary after tax with further add-ons to be included, however his indication in recent weeks that he wishes to retire at the Bernabeu has resulted in the player wanting to stay at the club until 2021.

Despite this, the club’s hierarchy, along with president Florentino Perez, are adamant that the player only deserves four more years with the side, following a spell in the player’s career where injuries and bad form have led to certain influential figures thinking that his status as the world’s best player is coming to an end.

In both the Champions League and La Liga this season, the Portugal skipper has played 678 minutes, and has scored just four goals in the process, with an average of 169.5 minutes-per-goal, which is way below what has become to be expected of him at Los Blancos.
