Antonio Conte Suggests Chelsea Should Learn to 'Kill the Game' After Middlesbrough Draw

Antonio Conte was pleased with the level of performance shown by his Chelsea side as they claimed a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough, but identified a possible concern in the Blues’ failure to fully finish the game off by scoring a second, 90min reports.
Diego Costa’s volley just before half time put Chelsea into a 1-0 lead which they retained until the end of the match, though Middlesbrough applied pressure to make the away fans nervous in the last ten minutes.
“It was a good performance against a very strong team.” Conte said to Sky Sports.
“Don’t forget Middlesbrough drew with Arsenal and Manchester City away.”
“I am pleased with the performance of the players and their attitude.”
Chelsea were in complete control for much of the second half, but were left a little uncomfortable in their attempts to see out the win at the Riverside Stadium.
“We created many chances to score the second goal. It’s important in this game, if you have the possibility, to kill the game, because if you have corners and crosses anything can happen in this league.”
“You can arrive at the end of the game not afraid [if you score the second goal], but this is the sixth game in a row we haven’t conceded, and that is another good thing for us.”
Costa was relatively quiet for much of the game, but struck when it mattered from a corner to reach ten goals in the season.
“Diego is always in the action for the goal, he’s a fantastic striker and he’s showing it.”
Chelsea’s title credentials are now put heavily under the spotlight by two difficult tests in succession, against Tottenham on Saturday and then Manchester City.
“Now we have five days to prepare for a tough game against a team like Tottenham. We have to continue with trust and with our fans.”
