Chelsea’s Antonio Conte has revealed that although his change of tactics has benefitted the entire team, a specific player is perfectly suited to the new 3-4-3 formation, 90min reports.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via the Metro, the Chelsea boss mentioned Pedro as the player that’s flourishing the most in the new system.
Chelsea’s fortunes have seen a complete turnaround after conte changed their formation. The beginning of the season saw them playing with four at the back despite many fans expecting the former Juventus boss to employ his traditional three.
However, eventually Conte changed to the 3-4-3 formation and his team has grown into formidable title challengers that currently sit on top of the Premier League table.
Stamford Bridge has seen improved performances from many of their fringe players since the tactical change including the likes of Victor Moses, whilst Eden Hazard has returned to his blistering from that won him PFA Player of the Year.
But the Italian manager believes that it’s Spanish winger Pedro that has excelled the most in the new system.
The former Italy manager said:
“Pedro? He has qualities of absolute excellence. He’s perfect for the 3-4-3.”
The former Barcelona man has also had a change in fortunes after finding it difficult to settle in the capital since his move from the Nou Camp.
Last season he arrived with a big reputation but struggled to force his way into the first team, causing rumours of an exit to circulate. Yet, this season he has managed to edge last campaign’s top performerWillian out of the team with five starts in Chelsea’s last five games.
It’s easy to agree with the Chelsea manager as Pedro has scored two and assisted five already this term.
