Nice were held to a goalless draw away to Bordeaux on Wednesday, during which summer signing Mario Balotelli was again in the headlines for the wrong reasons - shown a straight red card in injury time, minutes later, Balotelli's Nice team mate Younes Belhanda was also shown a straight red card too.
The former Manchester City striker took a swipe at Igor Lewczuk after the player had won the ball just in front of him and the referee did not hesitate in giving him his marching orders, 90min reports.
A bemused Balotelli then handed his shirt to a fan as he walked down the tunnel as his last Nice game of 2016 ended in disaster.
The Italian moved to the south of France on a free transfer after a less than impressive time at Liverpool and has gone from strength to strength despite picking up his second red card of the season yesterday.
His Nice career hasn't all been doom and gloom however; he's notched 8 goals in 8 games as they sit happily at the top of Ligue 1 and two points ahead at the halfway stage.
After rumours of Balotelli returning to the Premier League came out, his agent Mino Raiola yesterday spoke to TalkSport:
We’ve already had talks with English clubs, but it’s really too early to say. We want to keep it day-by-day with Mario.
With star men Balotelli and Belhanda picking up bans, Nice will have to rally after the winter break and continue their terrific start to the season to win their first Ligue 1 title since 1959.
