Iwobi Targets More Playing Time, Goals At Arsenal
Nigeria youngster, Alex Iwobi, has stated that his target for the upcoming English Premier League season is getting more playing time and scoring more goals for the Gunners, Complete Sports Nigeria reports.
Iwobi, has been in good scoring form for Arsenal in their pre-season friendlies, bagging a brace in the 8-0 bashing of Viking and also getting a goal in a 3-2 win against Manchester City.
The 19-year-old scored two EPL goals after breaking into the Arsenal first team last season.
In a chat with arsenal.com, Iwobi praised the team’s performances in their pre-season games, stating that they can’t wait for the new season to start.
“The challenge for me is to play as many games as I can, and to try to use the opportunities that I get,” Iwobi said.
“Hopefully, I can try to get as many goals and assists as I can.”“We have done very well in our games. We just need to use that confidence throughout the season. We’re all good, everyone’s good, everyone’s smiling and everyone’s happy. Now we’re just looking forward to the season.”
On his goal against Manchester City, which drew Arsenal level, Iwobi said:
“When Theo made that run I started sprinting for my life. I wanted to get that goal, so when it came across and saw it come to my feet I thought, ‘I have to take my chance and make sure I hit the target’. Luckily for me it went in.”
