Injury Rules Victor Anichebe Out of Sunderland’s Trip To Spurs
David Moyes has ruled Victor Anichebe out of Sunderland’s English Premier League away fixture against Tottenham Hotspur as he reveals that the forward has a thigh strain, Complete Sports Nigeria reports.
Moyes confirmed the injury setback during his press conference on Friday ahead of the Black Cats’ trip to North London.
Anichebe who joined Sunderland from West Brom as a free agent is yet to feature for the Midlands club.
“It would be good to get Victor ready but I don’t want to rush him. He has a slight thigh strain so we’re being protective,” Moyes said.
The former Real Sociedad boss revealed that Lee Cattermole and Steven Pienaar could play against Spurs.
“Lee Cattermole and Steven Pienaar both have a chance of being involved. They trained the last few days.”
He also tipped Tottenham Hotspur as one of the favourites for the EPL title.
“I think they are title challengers. They will be close with the players and the squad they’ve got.”
