Neymar says that he realised he had made it to the top level of football when he was able to buy his family a house, 90min reports.
The Barcelona star spoke at an event sponsored by Gillette on Thursday, and revealed a few tidbits about life with the La Liga giants.
When asked to pick out a single moment that ensured his status as an international name, the 24-year-old replied with a sentimental answer.
He said:
“I think it was when I had made so much money from football that I was able to buy a house for my family. That’s when it really sank in.”“It was a really nice feeling.”
The Brazil international was also quizzed on his relationship with fellow South American superstars Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, with the three-pronged Barca attack showing off their world-class talents by helping demolish Celtic 7-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday.
He continued:
“Messi is the best player I have ever seen. Having him in the team makes us the best in the world.”“It’s so much easier to play with Messi next to you. I have a great understanding with him, and with Suárez too.”“We always try to help each other to make sure things work out right. The trident will carry on doing all we can for the team with our goals and assists.”
Neymar was also asked to provide advice to any young footballers out there whose dream it was to make it to the highest level of the game.
He added:
“The secret is to get better every day. That’s life.”“Improving in every training session, in every game. So I hope can score even more than 131 goals this season!”
