Game Over? FIFA 17 Sales Smash PES 2017 40:1 In Battle For Video Game Supremacy

The battle between EA Sports’ FIFA and Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer video game franchises has become an annual tradition among devoted fans of each series.
In the ongoing struggle for supremacy it is FIFA which has, by and large, lauded it over its opponent for many years.
It’s very rare that fans of either game switch allegiance to the opposing side and, thanks to the invention of FIFA’S Ultimate Team gamemode, many more gamers have flocked to EA’s side of the conflict.
That trend was given its greatest indication yet when the week one sales figures of FIFA 17 were released on Monday and, while it’s unsurprising to see this year’s edition sell so many copies, it is the the manner with which EA has crushed Konami that has shocked video game analysts.
Indeed, FIFA 17 has outsold PES 2017 by a whopping 40:1. Utterly mindblowing.
There’s no doubting that EA will be feeling extremely smug to see their game blow Konami’s out of the water, and fans of FIFA took to twitter to mock their PES counterparts over the released figures.
PES fans will always call on Konami to keep making PES but, after these latest figures, could they begin to wonder whether it’s worth the investment?
