Nabil Bentaleb insists that he has no regrets over leaving Tottenham during the summer, 90min reports.
The Algerian midfielder joined German club Schalke 04 on a season-long-loan from the London side after falling out of favour with Mauricio Pochettino. And while Tottenham sit in second place in the Premier League table, Schalke are struggling in the Bundesliga at 16th.
Bentaleb has said that he isn’t bothered by Schalke’s slow start, and wouldn’t regret the move even if Spurs were in first place. He also appeared to criticise English fans, claiming that they don’t show support when their teams lose.
“Even if Tottenham were leading I would not regret my move,” Bentaleb told SportBild (H/T ESPN).
“At Schalke they believe in me. I’ve made this decision, and a few defeats won’t change anything. We worked hard enough, in every match, in every training session. But we’ve made mistakes, and we need to cut them out.“But we fight and I believe that’s also the reason that the fans support us. I don’t know that from England. If you lose there, nobody supports you in the stadium.”
Spurs fans, though, were left very unimpressed with the player’s comments, and have labeled him poisonous, arrogant and egotistical.
