Cristiano Ronaldo Is The Joint-Fourth Highest Paid Celebrity In The World

Cristiano Ronaldo is the joint-fourth highest paid celebrity in the world

Cristiano Ronaldo deserves immense credit for the way in which he turned around his Euro 2016.
He couldn’t hit a barn door in the first two matches, angered an entire nation (Iceland) with his petty post-match comments and was then filmed throwing a reporter’s microphone into a lake.

The turning point for the three-time Ballon d’Or winner came in Portugal’s final group match against Hungary. Ronaldo scored twice to ensure his national team advanced to the knockout stages by the skin of their teeth.

The Real Madrid superstar became increasingly influential as the tournament wore on and even managed to make an impact in the final, despite the fact he was substituted in the 25th minute following a full-blooded challenge by Dimitri Payet.

He was basically acting as Portugal’s manager – alongside Fernando Santos, the team’s actual coach, on the touchline – throughout extra-time.
By winning Euro 2016, there’s no doubt that Ronaldo will be remembered as one of the greatest players of all time.
And it’s no surprise that the 31-year-old, a marketing company’s dream, is currently the world’s highest-paid footballer.

In fact, according to a new report from Forbes  per Goal – Ronaldo is the joint-fourth highest-paid celebrity in the world.
With earnings of £66.2 million in salary and sponsorship income, the former Manchester United star sits alongside American TV star Dr. Phil McGraw.

Ronaldo is understood to earn £41 million in wages from Real Madrid, with the rest of his earnings coming from lucrative sponsorship deals. The Portuguese is connected to a host of global brands including Nike and Tag Heuer.

Barcelona’s Lionel Messi is the eighth highest-paid celebrity – and the second wealthiest football – with £61.3 million in earnings.
But which celebrities are above Ronaldo on the list?

American author James Patterson is third, with an income of £71.5 million, just behind British boy band One Direction who earn a whopping £82.7 million.

However, that figure still pales in comparison to the amount US singer Taylor Swift rakes in.
The 26-year-old tops the list with earnings of £127.9 million.
