Juventus Eye Chelsea Midfielder As Potential Paul Pogba Replacement

Matic significantly underperformed last season

Juventus are seemingly poised to be on the wrong end of one of the most high-profile transfer sagas this summer has seen.

Paul Pogba – arguably among the best midfielders in the game – is on the cusp of leaving the Italian club in favour of returning to Manchester United.

It goes without saying that Juventus will be handsomely compensated for parting ways with the France international, with The Sun reporting the Red Devils are willing to fork out £105 million for his services.

ESPN reports Massimiliano Allegri has already lined up the man he wants to fill the void Pogba could leave behind next season – Nemanja Matic.

Juventus are believed to have made an approach for the Serbia international only to be told he was not for sale until Chelsea were certain they could complete a deal for another midfielder.

The Serie A giants are now hopeful of landing the anchor man after the Blues yesterday confirmed the £30 million capture of Leicester City dynamo N’Golo Kante.
With the deal done and dusted, Chelsea will reportedly consider letting Matic leave Stamford Bridge for around £15 million.

Should the former Benfica man be allowed to sign for Juventus, the latter club will be in a more stable position to give Pogba the all-clear to join Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.
United are thought to be confident they can strike a deal to bring back one of their former youth players – though negotiations are expected to drag on for a few more weeks yet.
