Mario Balotelli Smuggled To Liverpool Training Lying In Back Of Taxi
It was widely thought that Mario Balotelli’s career at Liverpool was over.
Jurgen Klopp has shown no desire to include the Italian as part of his plans for Liverpool’s future after he spent the entirety of last season on loan at AC Milan.
There were rumours of a move to Besiktas but as of yet, the maligned striker remains a Liverpool player. Balotelli has reported for pre-season training at the club’s Melwood base and might have been given a second chance by Klopp.
The 25-year-old has made no secret of his love for flashy cars – he’s been snapped in a camouflaged Bentley GT – and so fans would have been mystified to see him arrive to training in a Ford Mondeo.
According to The Sun, Balotelli took a taxi to Melwood and, to avoid being photographed by a journalist, decided to lay down in the back of it.
Quite what Balotelli had to hide is anyone’s guess. Or why he decided to call a taxi.
It’s not the only odd move the former Manchester City player has made this week. In an with Italian outlet Corriere della Sera, Balotelli claimed he will win football’s most coveted individual accolade, the Ballon d’Or.
“In my view there weren’t enough [expectations put on me], as I can do so much more than what I said. But it takes time,” Balotelli said, per Sky Sports.
“On the scale of 0 to 10, I stopped at five, but I’ll get to 10 eventually. I want to get there. I will win the Ballon d’Or.”
Having scored three times in 23 appearances last season, we’re highly doubtful Balotelli will ever reach the heights of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Still, you can’t knock his ambition.
