Valencia forward Paco Alcacer is close to signing for La Liga champions Barcelona, and has already completed a medical ahead of the proposed move, 90min reports.
That is according to Mundo Deportivo (H/T Sky Sports), who are reporting that the Spaniard will sign for £25.6m on Monday.
Alcacer was not involved in Valencia’s match against Eibar on Saturday. After the 1-0 defeat, Pako Ayesteran, the team’s coach, told reporters that the player was ‘not in the ideal situation to compete’.
Deportivo, a Barcelona-based paper, claim that Alcacer will sign a five-year deal on Monday before reporting for international duty with Spain, who are to face Belgium in a friendly on September 1st, ahead of a World Cup qualifying match four days later against Liechtenstein.
Alcacer, 22, is a pacey forward blessed with flair and creativity. He is also a deadly finisher, who can also take on defenders as he possesses great dribbling ability.
He came up through the ranks at Valencia, making his senior debut back in 2010. He became a regular in the side after spending the 2012/13 season on loan at Getafe.
He scored 13 goals and made six assists for Valencia in La Liga last season, and was Spain’s top scorer in their Euro 16 qualification campaign with five goals. He was left out of the final squad, however, and did not travel to France with the rest of the team.
Alcacer will be unveiled at Barcelona when he returns from Spain duty. He will be the fourth player to join the Catalan club from Valencia since 2012, with Jordi Alba, Jeremy Mathieu and Andre Gomes paving the way.
