Premier League Reveal 4-Man Shortlist For August Player Of The Month

With the first month of the season completed the shortlist for the Premier League’s EA SPORTS Player of the Month has been drawn up – with some surprising names on the list, according to reports from 90min.
Eden HazardRaheem Sterling and Antonio Valencia have all helped them teams maintain 100% records through the first three games of the season. Other nominee Curtis Davies has also helped his Hull City side surpass expectations in the opening month with two wins from their first three games.
Eden Hazard seems to have re-discovered the form that eluded him last year under and is back to his best. His opening goal against West Ham United on the opening Monday of the season broadcasted just what he is all about. No player has performed more successful passes in the final third than the Belgian as he helped his team to a maximum three wins from three in the opening rounds of fixtures and will look to continue that when he resumes after the international break.
Raheem Sterling is another man currently thriving under a new manager after having an indifferent year last term. Rejuvanated under Pep Guardiola, Sterling has played with a new-found confidence. Positive opening displays against Sunderland and Stoke were followed up with two goals against West Ham last weekend to cement his positive start to the year.
Curtis Davies has been the heartbeat of a Hull City side that was expected to struggle from day one, but the centre-half has shown phenomenal resilience. A shock opening day win over the champions Leicester and a win over Swansea showed encouraging signs and only a last minute Marcus Rashford goal prevented them from taking a point against Manchester United.
He has more interceptions than any other player and two clean sheets and one goal conceded in three games shows just how well the captain has done.
Antonio Valencia is another defender who has conceded just the one goal in three games, but has also been a huge attacking threat going forward. Only one player has provided more successful crosses than the former Wigan man this year and no player has received more passes in the final third.
The Manager of the Month shortlist follows a similar pattern to that of the players. The unbeaten trio ofJose MourinhoPep Guardiola and Antonio Conte alongside Mike Phelan – the man heading the surprise package Hull City.
