AC Milan striker Carlos Bacca has ‘thanked God’ for not signing for West Ham in the summer transfer window, 90min reports.
The 30-year-old striker, who was at the top of West Ham’s shopping list over the summer, decided to stay put in Milan, scoring five goals in as many games so far this season.
West Ham boss Slaven Bilic has been left to rue missing out on Bacca, with none of his strikers managing to net a single goal all season.
The Hammers were left to sign Juventus striker Simone Zaza on-loan, but the 25-year-old has struggled to adjust to the pace of the Premier League so far.
And Bacca seems relieved that he didn’t complete a switch to West Ham, thanking God for his decision to stay-put.
Speaking to Corriere della Sera, Bacca said:
“I made the best decision [in choosing to remain with Milan], thank God.
“Here I have an important role, I always felt a leader, a mature player because I tried different leagues.”
West Ham will be hoping that one of their strikers can finally get off the mark on Saturday as they face the struggling Sunderland, who have failed to record a win in their opening eight fixtures.
