Bayern Munich Starlet Pips Marcus Rashford To Prestigious European Golden Boy Award

Bayern Munich wonderkid Renato Sanches has been crowned the winner of this year's European Golden Boy Award, beating teammate Kinglsey Coman and Manchester United youngster Marcus Rashford to the honour, 90min reports.

The 19-year-old has shot to fame in recent months having won the European Championships with Portugal before making a big money move from Benfica, to Bayern Munich in the summer for an initial €35m. 

The teenager will be given the award in a ceremony on Monday evening after the organisers ​of the event, ​Tuttosport, announced the results earlier in the day. 

The winner is chosen by 30 of Europe's leading football journalists, who pick which young rising player has impressed the most over the last year. Previous winners of the award include Wayne Rooney and Sergio Aguero which demonstrates the calibre of the European Golden Boy title.
