Ryan Giggs Names Former Serie A Defender As The Toughest He's Ever Faced

​Former Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs has said that Javier Zanetti is the toughest defender he faced during his amazing 24-year career.

The Welshman came up against many a defender in his time, but has singled out Zanetti as the one he hated playing against the most, 90min reports.

Zanetti - now retired - spent 11 years at Inter Milan, making 615 appearances for the Serie A outfit. Giggs claims that he had everything as a defender, and made life quite difficult for him.

"In the Champions League, certainly Zanetti is the strongest defender against I've ever played," the United legend told ​Calciomercato.

''He had everything, speed, strength and intelligence. I used to be told that I could make things happen against any defender. But he made everything very difficult."
