West Ham Injury Woes Continue As Gokhan Tore Ruled Out For 5 Weeks With Thigh Strain

West Ham United’s injury crisis has continued apace after Gokhan Tore was ruled out for five weeks with a thigh injury, 90min reports.

The Sun reported that Tore pulled up with a quadriceps strain and is now set to sit out five weeks’ worth of football – an injury that is set to further ravage manager Slaven Bilic’s first-team squad.

Tore was a summer loan signing from Turkish side Besiktas, but has so far failed to light up the Premier League with the Hammers.

The 26-year-old has made five appearances so far this term, but has come in for criticism from West Ham supporters for his abject form since making the temporary switch to the London stadium.

West Ham paid £2.5m to take Tore on a season-long loan, but could attempt to send him back to Besiktas in January due to his inability to prove his worth to the Hammers’ cause.

Tore has also had to contend with being part the West Ham squad that has suffered a wretched start to the season, with just one league win picked up from the first seven matches – form that has seen the Irons slumped in 18th position in the table.

Bilic has already had to contend with a spate of injuries to key personnel in the opening two months of the 2016/17 campaign, and will now be forced to shuffle his depleted pack once more after the news concerning Tore.

The winger joins Diafra Sakho, Arthur Masuaku and Sam Byram as long term absentees for West Ham with back, knee and hamstring injuries respectively.

Fellow injury victims Aaron Cresswell, Andy Carroll and Andre Ayew, however, are said to be making good progress from knee and thigh strains.

The trio are expected to make their comebacks from injury at some point in the next few weeks, with left-back Cresswell and striker Carroll thought to be in line for returns by October 22, and Ayew the following week.
