Manchester United Starlet Marcus Rashford Dropped To England U-21 Side After Lack Of Playing Time

Manchester United’s young forward Marcus Rashford has been dropped from Sam Allardyce’s England squad, having been demoted to the recently announced Under-21 side, 90min reports.
The 18-year-old, who was a surprise inclusion in Roy Hodgson’s squad for Euro 2016, is yet to play a single minute of Premier League football under Jose Mourinho this year, prompting a call-up to the England under-21’s to further his development.
Rashford impressed in his two substitute appearances at Euro 2016, with many supporters berating Roy Hodgson for not bringing him on earlier in England’s embarrassing Round of 16 defeat to Iceland.
Gareth Southgate named Rashford in the 24-man squad for the England under-21’s upcoming Euro qualifier against Norway. Speaking about his reasoning, as quoted by The Mirror, he said:
“Sam [Allardyce] is quite keen that people are playing regularly, we think that it’s now a good opportunity in his international development for him to be with the U21s.”
“Marcus is a young player and still developing so this is a big part of his international education really.”
“We’ve got a good week’s work ahead with a very strong squad and we’re playing Norway, who are doing similar with their players as they’ve just named Martin Odegaard in their squad.”
“We’ve had it in the past with the likes of Raheem SterlingHarry KaneJohn Stones and Calum Chambers joining us after being with the seniors, so it’s something we’re familiar with.”
“Marcus has a good mentality, so I know he’ll respond in the right way and we’re looking forward to working with him.”
Rashford burst onto the scene without a single under-21 cap to his name last season, scoring two goals on his debut in the Europa League before scoring another brace against Arsenal in a 3-2 win on his Premier League debut.
