Liverpool expect to have both Nathaniel Clyne and Dejan Lovren available for the huge clash with Manchester United a week on Monday, but could be without the in-form Adam Lallana, 90min reports.
According to the Liverpool Echo, the Reds are still uncertain as to whether Lallana will be available after the England international withdrew from the win at Swansea through injury.
The Premier League player of the month nominee has been receiving intensive treatment for a groin injury at Melwood after limping off the pitch during the Swansea game and was withdrawn from England’s international squad for the games against Malta and Slovenia.
The reinvigorated former Southampton man has not been ruled out of the Manchester United game but his progress is being closely monitored.
Clyne is also unavailable for England but is expected to recover from his knee problem in the two week break.
The right-back has established himself as one of the league’s best this season but still faces some stiff competition internationally, with the equally impressive Kyle Walker providing Gareth Southgate with a selection headache when both are fit.
Croatian defender Dejan Lovren, like Lallana, currently has a groin injury, but is also expected to make his return before the derby.
The Reds go into the game against their Manchester rivals two points and two places above Jose Mourinho’s charges in 4th place, having won four games in a row.
If Lallana is to miss the game, however, it will be a considerable blow for Jurgen Klopp, the midfielder boasting some of the most impressive stats in the Premier League so far this campaign.
