Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has revealed his simple plan to help his side win the Premier League title this season – don’t let the other team have the ball.

The former Barcelona coach has his eyes set on taking the league title off reigning champions Leicester City come May, and his blueprint isn’t exactly rocket science, with the majority of it surrounding the concept of gaining and regaining possession.

Claudio Ranieri’s sensational season with the Foxes was based on his side having the least amount of possession, and focussing on the counter attack and being deadly in attack, however Pep appears to be going in the opposite direction, and revealed his ‘master plan’ when talking to the Guardian.

“This season, to be champions,” said Guardiola.

“I need my team to have possession. You can lose with possession, but more likely you will lose with less possession. We must do what we believe.

“I believe in possession. I know everyone wants to copy the winner – but in football and sport no one wins forever.”
